About Dr. Robin Landau
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST SPECIALIZING IN EATING DISORDER THERAPY

WELCOME!
Licensed Clinical Psychologist for Eating Disorders and Body Image Concerns
I’m Dr. Robin Landau, a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to helping teens, adults, and families transform their relationship with food and body image through eating disorder therapy and integrative care. I work with individuals who are navigating diagnosable eating disorders as well as those who feel caught in quieter but still painful struggles like disordered eating, chronic dieting, obsessing about appearance, or feeling at odds with their bodies.
With more than twenty years of experience, I offer a deeply attuned, integrative approach that honors the emotional roots of your challenges and the practical needs of healing. Through secure virtual therapy available in Santa Clarita and throughout California, I provide a calm, thoughtful space where you can feel supported, understood, and guided with expertise and intention.

HOW I WORK
My Approach to Eating Disorder and Body Image Therapy
My approach combines practical tools with genuine care and understanding. Every person’s experience is unique, so therapy is always tailored to your needs, whether that means learning ways to manage stress and emotions, exploring the deeper “why” beneath certain patterns, or rebuilding trust in yourself and your body.

Our sessions move at a pace that feels comfortable, collaborative, steady, and never rushed. This is a space where you can speak openly, feel supported, and start to make sense of what’s been getting in the way of feeling like yourself.

For clients navigating food or body image concerns, I integrate Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size (HAES) principles into the work. My focus isn’t on weight or appearance, but on helping you create a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food, body, and self.

Whether you’re a teen, parent, or adult seeking support, my goal is to help you feel grounded, understood, and equipped to make meaningful change. I offer virtual eating disorder therapy and emotional support for my clients in Santa Clarita and across California.

WHAT THERAPY IS LIKE
What to Expect in Eating Disorder Therapy
Starting therapy can often feel uncertain or overwhelming. My role is to create a clear, supportive path forward that we navigate together. The process isn’t a set of rigid steps, but these stages offer a framework for what our work might look like.
Building Trust in Therapy
. We begin by building a foundation of trust. This is your space to share, without judgment, what you’re going through. Together, we’ll slow down and begin to notice patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Exploring the "Why" Beneath Eating & Body Struggles
. Eating disorders are rarely about food alone. They often develop as ways to cope with overwhelming emotions, unmet needs, or past experiences. In therapy, we’ll gently explore the roots of your relationship with food and body, so that the bigger picture starts to make sense.
Making Emotional and Behavioral Connections
. As you start to see how past experiences and current struggles connect, you’ll begin to understand not only what is happening, but why. These insights create space for self-compassion and new ways of responding, instead of falling back into old cycles.
Practicing New Tools for Daily Life
. Insight is powerful, but real change comes when you can use it in daily life. Along the way, I’ll offer practical strategies to help you manage urges, regulate emotions, and navigate relationships. This phase adds a more action-oriented piece to the puzzle.

Noticing Greater Freedom and Ease
. Over time, the eating disorder doesn’t have to feel like it’s in charge anymore. With greater understanding, healthier coping strategies, and a stronger sense of self, you can move toward freedom: space for connection, joy, and the life you want beyond food and body struggles.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education, Training, and Experience in Eating Disorder Treatment
I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles (CSPP-LA). My postdoctoral training includes intensive work in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at both the Maple Counseling Center (Beverly Hills) and the Saturday Center for Psychotherapy (Santa Monica). In the early years of my private practice, I deepened my expertise through a 1-year advanced training at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS), where I earned a certification in Psychoanalytically-Oriented Psychotherapy.
For the past 20 years, I’ve worked in private practice, inpatient, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for eating disorders. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how recovery unfolds across different stages of care and how each person’s path is unique.
