SPECIALTY · SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES & LOVED ONES
You are carrying
something too.
When someone you love is struggling with an eating disorder, families and loved ones often carry a quiet weight of their own. Fear, confusion, and a deep sense of responsibility can settle in without much room to set them down. This service is for you.
You do not have to figure this out alone, and you do not have to put yourself last in order to support someone you love.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
Two ways of working together
I work with families and loved ones in two distinct but often overlapping ways. Most people find they need both at different points.
GUIDANCE & EDUCATION
Understanding and equipping you
A structured and compassionate space to better understand eating disorder dynamics, strengthen communication, and learn how to respond in ways that genuinely support recovery. Sessions focus on helping you feel more grounded, informed, and confident in your role.
PERSONAL THERAPY
Tending to your experience
A space to explore your own emotional experience as someone caring for a loved one. We process the impact, understand how this relationship intersects with your own needs and boundaries, and make sure your wellbeing does not get lost in the process.

WHO THIS IS FOR
This space is for families and loved ones
Eating disorders affect everyone in their orbit. If you are a parent watching your child disappear into an illness you do not fully understand, a partner who feels like you are walking on eggshells around every meal, or a sibling who has quietly been carrying the weight of your family's fear, this is for you.
Parents & Caregivers
Navigating your child's eating disorder is one of the hardest things a parent can do. Whether your child is a teen or an adult, you need support that goes beyond a handout.
Partners & Spouses
Loving someone with an eating disorder can feel lonely and frightening. You may not know what to say, what to do, or how to take care of yourself in the process.
Other Family Members
Siblings, adult children, close friends. This support is for the people who love someone with an eating disorder and want to understand what is happening and how to help without making things worse.
WHAT TO EXPECT

How the work unfolds
No two families are in the same place. Some people come in crisis. Others come when things are manageable but not quite right. Either way, here is how we typically begin.
01
A free consultation call
We start with a 15-minute call so you can share what is going on, ask questions, and get a sense of whether I am the right fit. There is no pressure and no obligation.
02
Understanding your situation
In our first sessions I will get a more complete picture of what you are navigating, the history, the dynamics, what has been tried, and what you most need right now. Education about eating disorders is often woven in from the very beginning.
03
Building your role with confidence
We work on how you show up for your loved one, what to say, what not to say, how to handle meals and difficult moments, and how to set limits in a way that preserves the relationship. You leave sessions feeling more equipped, not more overwhelmed.
04
Making room for you
Supporting someone with an eating disorder can bring up complex emotions including worry, guilt, frustration, grief, and a creeping sense of losing yourself. Your emotional experience matters here. Therapy helps you stay present and connected to your loved one while also tending to your own wellbeing.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
01
Is this the same as family therapy?
No. Family therapy involves the person with the eating disorder and their family members in the room together. This service is just for you, the parent, partner, or loved one, either for guidance and education, personal therapy, or both. If family therapy is also appropriate, we can discuss that separately.
02
What if I do not know very much about eating disorders?
That is completely okay and very common. Part of what I do in these sessions is provide education about eating disorders in a way that is clear, practical, and specific to your loved one's situation. You will leave with a much clearer understanding of what is happening and why.
03
I feel like I am making things worse. Is that normal?
Yes, and it is one of the most painful parts of loving someone with an eating disorder. Many of the instincts that feel caring, such as encouraging them to eat, expressing worry, reasoning with them, can inadvertently maintain the eating disorder. This is not your fault, and it is something we work on directly in these sessions.
