Eating Disorders & Body Image Disorders

EXPERIENCE

I began treating clients with Eating Disorders and co-occurring disorders in 2002, in outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization settings. I  was able to focus my work with individuals struggling with Binge-eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa.  I have experience with a variety of populations, since eating disorders affect all ages, ethnicities, and genders.

APPROACH

My approach to treating Eating Disorders is holistic, as I consider both your physical and emotional health. I work from a weight-inclusive intuitive eating framework in which all foods are "okay" and a healthy body comes in all sizes. The interventions that I use for Eating Disorders and disordered eating are evidence-based (backed by Science) along with relational psychodynamic and mindfulness-based techniques. For more information about these methods and more, please see Therapeutic Approaches in the Menu Bar.

COLLABORATIVE TREATMENT

I also understand the need for a treatment team addressing the various complexities of Eating Disorders. I work collaboratively with psychiatrists, registered dietitians, and internists to provide the best care.

HEALING AND RECOVERY

My passion for helping you heal your relationship with food and your body is rooted in my belief that joy and self-worth can only be created from within.  My goal is to help you challenge internalized beliefs that body size and appearance are synonymous with happiness or discontentment.  I will help you replace feelings of shame, self-blame, and body dissatisfaction with self-compassion, hope, and balance. I am here to support you as you deepen your understanding of yourself and the complex interplay between underlying issues and your eating disorder symptoms. Eating Disorders are not "just about food" and recovery is possible.
